The 18th Session of the Semen Analysis Standardization and Quality Control Training Program Successfully Concluded

On May 23, 2025, the 18th session of the Semen Analysis Standardization and Quality Control Training Program successfully concluded. Co-organized by the Sichuan Society of Andrology, the Reproductive Male Medicine Department & Sichuan Human Sperm Bank of West China Second University Hospital (Sichuan University), the Sichuan Institute of Population and Family Planning Science (WHO Collaborating Centre for Research in Human Reproduction), and the Reproductive and Maternal & Child Health Hospital Affiliated to Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the program brought together eight participants. The cohort represented Chengdu, Mianyang, and Liangshan Prefecture (Sichuan Province); Xining (Qinghai Province); Tongren (Guizhou Province); and Fuzhou (Fujian Province).

All participants were assessed pre- and post-training. For sperm concentration, the coefficient of variation (CV) among the eight participants decreased from 34.78% pre-training to 7.49% post-training. For morphology analysis, the CV dropped from 79.06% pre-training to 23.80% post-training.

The curriculum is designed to progress systematically from foundational to advanced levels, ensuring that every participant can master key skills—even acquiring the expertise to build an andrology laboratory from scratch—and achieve tangible results. We look forward to welcoming more professionals in related fields to join our future sessions as we work together to advance the field of reproductive medicine.
